State Lawyers

Pursuant to Article 30 of Law 4831/2021 (Government Gazette A΄ 170), State lawyers may be appointed for the purpose of representing and defending the interests of the State before courts or authorities, as well as for handling extrajudicial legal matters at the seats of Courts of First Instance where no Legal Council Office of the Legal Council of the State operates.

They may also be appointed, in exceptional cases, at the seats of Courts of First Instance where a Legal Council Office does operate, provided that extraordinary circumstances exist as a result of which the officers serving there are unable, for justified reasons, to cope with the particularly increased workload arising from those circumstances. They may likewise be appointed at parallel and regional seats of Courts of First Instance where access from the seat of the Legal Council Office within whose local jurisdiction they fall is difficult.

Trainee Lawyers

Trainee lawyers may undertake their practical training in any service unit of the Legal Council of the State, in order to assist the work of the Legal Officers of the Legal Council of the State and to acquire, during their traineeship, both theoretical and practical knowledge.

The specific matters relating to practical training at the Legal Council of the State are regulated by Article 33 of Law 4831/2021, as well as by Decision No. 446/03-11-2021 of the President of the L.C.S., which defines their duties and responsibilities.
